See you there 🙂
January started off with a bang – my 30th birthday filled with friends, family and some much needed pampering. It could not have been a better way to ring in the new year and a new chapter in my life. It was also the launch of my new website and brand…which looks easy enough, but when you factor in everything that needs to be changed (i.e. website, blog, facebook, instagram, business cards, handouts, packaging, etc.), it gets time consuming! So it was a much needed break to have some extra time to work on that, and less time behind the camera.
But I must say, it felt so good to get back to it last weekend. I missed watching couples unfold into each other. Cuddling up not only to beat the cold but to feel that good lovin’ you only get when you’re nestled up close to your main man or leading lady. Call me a creeper, but it just warms your heart to witness.
Jess and Chris brought their little guy Jackson, along with Milo, the most adorable puppy there ever was. We snapped some pictures of them as a fam at the Mer Bleue Bog and then spent some time with just the two of them, cuddled and cozy.
Looking forward to their wedding in July!! Until then, stay warm, friends! xo
I used to think that turning 30 would be the most frightening experience of my life. In my early 20s, I had the urge to travel the world, make bold decisions, and live the most exciting life I could conceivably pull off. Turning 30 meant having to give up all of those things and become a real adult. The kind that spends Sundays going through the weekly flyers for the best deals at the local grocery store, budgeting to pay the mortgage, tucking into bed at 9pm and waking up at 5am, unable to sleep through the night without peeing.
Well…reality has settled in. I don’t yet peruse the weekly flyers but I always buy what’s on sale at the grocery store. Budgets have become part of my day to day…running a small business, while still having enough “play” money to travel, go out for dinner, and treat myself to a latte at Bridgehead. 5 months into my pregnancy, I struggle to stay up past 9pm, usually wake up in the middle of the night to use the washroom, and then toss and turn before falling back to sleep for only a few hours before getting up to go to yoga, teach yoga or get to work!
The strange reality is that I love my life. I wouldn’t change a thing. While I used to dread turning 30, it’s become the new 20. I feel happy, healthy, and am excited for the adventures ahead.
My friends and family spoiled me ROTTEN this birthday. A day full of surprises.
I was told to be ready at 10:45am. My friends picked me up (including my long-time gal pal who’s 30th birthday is also this month!). We were taken to brunch at Fraser’s Cafe (my absolute fave!) where 3 of our friends were waiting to surprise us!
Following brunch, we were treated to manicures/pedicures at Third Avenue Spa! SO dreamy.
Then, Alyssa, our bff, took us across the street to Magpie where we were treated to a new Alex and Ani bracelet that we both have wanted for a long time! Wowzers.
THEN (yes, it keeps going!), we were blindfolded in the car, taken for quite the spin (Alyssa knew I’d be counting every turn and stop…mapping the way we were headed in my head) where we were then escorted out of the car, into a pub, filled with all our friends and fam!
What a day to remember…a birthday I will never forget.
It only seems fitting to introduce this more mature me with my brand new website and logo! I could NOT be more excited to share with you the new look of Ashley Notley Photography! Visit the website to take a peek…it’s still a work in progress but I just couldn’t wait any longer!! Let me know what you think 🙂
Before there was snow, before Christmas, before we rang in the new year, Alissia and Ryan had their engagement session. We started off at the Museum of Nature for a few cozy indoor photos before we headed down to Confederation Park where the Christmas lights lit up the night! Check out some highlights from our session!
Can’t wait for these two to tie the knot this summer!!
To think this year is coming to an end. I still can’t even believe that wedding season is over! Probably because there’s still no snow on the ground and it still feels like fall most days…but here we are about to hit a new year!
I can’t even begin to express my gratitude to all of my clients for their support, encouragement and for trusting me to capture such significant moments in their lives. It is such an honour to be there to witness a new chapter in people’s lives, new beginnings and the incredible love that people have for one another.
I got to be part of so many laughs, tears, and first kisses. Here are some of my favourite images of 2015!
Here’s to a great 2016 – new challenges, new adventures, and a whole new list of favourite images to keep track of! Happy 2015 everyone! I hope it was exactly what you wished for xoxo.
To think that my best friend has two children now blows my mind. It doesn’t feel like that long ago that we were sitting around watching Dawson’s Creek on a Friday night and ordering pizza. Who am I kidding, though, really?! I feel like I still do that.
But alas, baby Brady was born nearly three weeks ago and he’s already melting hearts. I love this family. Probably because they photograph so well…and also because they are just near and dear to my heart.
Check out Brady’s first close up – there are bound to be many more!
To say I am excited for this wedding is an understatement. When I met with Samantha for the first time and heard all about what she had planned for her big day, I knew it was right up my alley. Sam and her high school sweetheart, Dalton, are getting married on Sam’s family farm in Perth, Ontario. Sam was really excited for me to see the farm, so we decided to have her engagement session there as well!
Check out these two lovebirds and how AWESOME this farm is…it’s going to be the perfect setting for a wedding!
This post seems long overdue considering there is now snow on the ground and a baby in the mix. Brady was born a week and a half ago, happy, healthy and as perfect as can be. No shocker when you see the genes in this family! What a beauty.
Check out some maternity photos we took in the field down the road from their home (but not before a good old fashion leaf throwing party)! Jackson is already proving to be a great big bro! Stay tuned for pics of their newborn session taken this past weekend!
You may recall this gorgeous pair from their engagement session at the Experimental Farm this past summer. The light, the love, everything came together so nicely. So I had no doubt this wedding would be a dream, as well.
Have a look at this gorgeous Mill Street wedding in Ottawa, starting off with the boys getting pampered at House of Barons on Preston Street.
The bride and her gorgeous bridesmaids got ready in a suite at the Chateau Laurier!
Who doesn’t love a good vintage Austin Healey on your wedding day!

On what felt like the coldest day so far this fall, this adorable family met up with me at the National Art Gallery for a little family session! The boys were such good sports despite the cold winds and were so excited just to explore the area.
Check out some of my faves from our session together!
